In September 2014 Boat International approached us to pitch for the digital transformation of their Charterfleet and Boat International websites, the digital representation of their world famous super-yachting publication, which was recently redesigned by Show Media to better appeal to the super high end, luxury subscriber.
Their vision was to create the ultimate online destination for the world of superyachts and the luxury lifestyle that accompanies them. They wanted to showcase their magazine content whilst ensuring the site was highly accessible and wanted to increase their appeal to a broader, more aspirational audience.
We set about designing a fully responsive website which to compliment the look and feel of the newly made-over magazine. We worked with them to improve the site’s navigation by simplifying their categories and integrating new menu items to link quickly to (luxury) content. We’ve created a beautiful, intuitive environment that showcases the world of superyachts and offers users access to read an archive of over 12,000 online articles.
The new site revolves around a searchable database of superyachts, which enables users to search through a database of over 10,000 boats. Users can quickly sort their results to find the newest, longest, and fastest yachts - a Top Trumps for grown-ups. The site uses a super fast elastic search function and encourages users to browse through glossy galleries of yachts for sale and for charter - as well as yachts which are being built, perfect to daydream over.
We’ve also created a Broker sales tool which uses market intelligence to help brokers value yachts and allows users to easily contact a database of the most successful yacht brokers from around the world. This database was developed by our back-end partner agency, Artirix, who we worked with to create a seamless experience in terms of content creation and website maintenance for the Boat International digital team.
